2b) Laser extraction line (in situ analysis)

Back to purification line (stepwise heating technique)...

The principle of this extraction line remains the same as the stepwise heating technique of extraction, except that the whole mineral is destroy by the laser (infrared or preferentially UV). The laser is placed over sample holder and the point of analysis is choosen by displacing the laser with the joystick. The camera allows a visual control. As in the other extraction method (stepwise heating), gas is liberated and cleaned through a getter and then sent in the mass spectrometer. For the moment this part of the line is out-of-order in Berne.
